Strategy & Messaging
Have a clear objective
What do you want to happen as a result of telling your story? Call your audience to action? Sell them something? Convince them of something? Or just entertain them? Your choice. But know exactly what it is.
Know your audience
Who are you talking to? Why do you care about them hearing what you have to say? Why do they care about hearing it? Base what you say on the answers to these three questions.
Have a clear message
What’s the one thing you want your audience to hear, understand and remember? Be able to say it in 15 seconds or less. And say it often enough that you are, in fact, heard, understood and remembered.
Developing an effective strategy and clear message are often overlooked. But they’re essential to your success.
